Learning to Drive in the County of Yorkshire, UK

Yorkshire is a beautiful northern county that is filled with history and natural beauty. It’s an ideal place to drive and learning here is even better. It has a wide variety of roads that are both smooth and long, and a little more bendy and interesting. Our instructors are here to guide you through your journey as you learn to drive in this interesting and cultured county. It’s only natural that you might be nervous on your first drive, or even on the first few, but our team is here to support you through the whole thing and offer comfort to make sure that you are going at your own pace. Unlike many other instructors, ours will never push you beyond your comfort zone and won’t rush you to make the next step in your driving experience. After all, they are there to teach you and work with you, not to force you into road situations that make you nervous – especially as that would be potentially dangerous. So when you get in the car with our experienced instructors, you know that the lesson is going to be relaxing and something you can get the most out of.

Driving through Yorkshire itself can be an adventure. There are so many great roads to drive down, both simple and exciting. When learning to drive, the early lessons can often benefit from the smooth and straight roads of the Yorkshire Dales, which makes for a relaxing drive. It’s a great opportunity to find new places to visit with friends and family once you have passed your test, and the Dales have a great selection of pubs and picturesque walks that you can go on. Of course, it’s not recommended you focus on this while you are driving, but there is nothing wrong with making a mental note if you see somewhere you might want to visit later! If you take the road up towards Old Skipton, there are a series of interesting bends in the road that lead to an amazing hill known as “The Big Dipper”. It’s great fun to drive, and even more fun when you do it for the first time.

There are a few roads in Yorkshire that are considered quite dangerous, however. When the ten most dangerous roads in Britain were announced, four of them were in Yorkshire – a considerably high number. Due to terrible wear and tear that has not been maintained regularly and poor road markings, the A61, A642, A645, and A6135 are all considered incredibly dangerous to drive on and have a higher number of accidents. This is really important to remember when you are learning to drive, as if you are required to drive on these roads and are not yet confident enough or comfortable driving on them yet, then it is important that you say something so that another route can be taken. It’s important to be aware of the best and worst roads to drive on.

Learning to drive in the county of Yorkshire can be an incredible amount of fun and a great experience. With our expert drivers to guide you, and a great knowledge of the road, you are sure to have a wonderful time learning to drive.
