Hi my name is Gordon
I am a driving instructor with Andy1st Driving School which I love very much. I enjoy getting out and about meeting new people. I believe the best way to help anyone learn to become a happy, safe and confident driver is to offer calm and relaxed lessons, progressing at your speed and to make it enjoyable.
You will receive 100% one to one from me all the time. My goal will be to get you to test standard naturally, have you pass the test and hopefully recommend me to family and friends. I will be happy knowing I have helped to put another safe and confident driver on the road.
I specialize in nervous pupils, I offer patience and understanding, I enjoy my job and am more than happy teaching people from age 17 to 60+.
My car is kept clean and tidy, a Ford Fiesta, 1.5 diesel manual which is a great size car, not too small and not too big, excellent for learning to drive in and is ideal for bay parking, parallel parking and turn in the road manoeuvres. The car has power steering and good all round vision which is essential and are able to get great clutch control with a diesel car.
I am based in Bewdley near the Wyre Forest. I cover all the surrounding areas: Kidderminster, Stourport, North Worcestershire and parts of Shropshire.
Thank you for your interest. I hope to be meeting you soon.

Welcome to Andy1st driving school in Kidderminster, the largest town in North Worcestershire. Just think when you’ve passed your test, you’ll be able to hop out for the day visiting everything the town has to offer - three shopping centres, a retail park, a range of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés and a twice weekly outdoor retail market! Now that really is a good reason for taking the plunge and learning to drive! Being able to drive gives you the freedom to do and go where you want without having to wait for public transport or a lift!
Many of our pupils start learning to drive at a young age as it’s beneficial for them getting to college or university. Other people learn later in life because circumstances have meant that they just haven’t got round to doing it yet. Some people learn for pleasure and just want the satisfaction of knowing they can do it and others learn out of necessity because a job they have applied for requires it for example.
It doesn’t matter to us what age you are, what level of experience you have or how quickly you need to learn as all of our learning packages are designed specifically for you as an individual. We don’t believe in giving everyone the same “off the shelf” instruction as what might work for one, won’t work for someone else. We will tailor a package to meet your individual requirements depending on budget, time constraints, additional needs and specific preferences. We can teach in both manual and automatic transmission cars so if you have a physical need or are a very nervous driver, our automatic cars may be a good option for you. We have male and female driving instructors and so if, for whatever reason, you prefer to be taught by a female then we can assist. We offer weekly lessons for a smooth methodical way of learning which allows you to spread the cost and in contrast, we offer intensive courses for those who need or want to learn very quickly. Your instructor can talk to you about that when he / she undertakes their initial assessment of you.
We hone our tuition in on your developmental areas and continually build on your strengths. Simply being able to get the car moving isn’t enough on our busy roads today, you need to be alert, perceptive and confident. We teach you this in abundance so that you have all the skills needed to become adept at different situations. Our instructors are all qualified in line with industry guidelines and all hold DBS checks. They are continually monitored by the Driving Standards Agency to ensure the high level of instruction required is being delivered. Our instructors are key to our business and so we invest wisely. They are patient, kind and reliable and provide an immense amount of flexibility when it comes to the time and location of lessons. This helps our pupils fit driving into their otherwise busy lives.
We support both our instructors and our pupils every step of the way. One of the ways we do this is to provide information through our administration centre. You can call and ask questions, find out information and enquire about all aspects of driving. We also provide you and the instructor an amount of local knowledge. We analyse data which highlights tricky junctions and high numbers of collisions. This isn’t meant to put you off or scare you, it simply makes you aware of areas where you should apply extra care and attention.
In and around Kidderminster, there are some areas with very high numbers of collisions reported. This maybe because drivers are going too fast or not observing traffic signals or it could be that they are “taking chances” at junctions. If these roads are likely to be on a route you will take regularly, then please apply extra care and attention and make sure you practice them with your instructor and familiarise yourself with them.
Firstly, the A456, Bewdley Hill, where it meets Sutton Road and Summer Place is littered with a variety of different collisions. In addition the A456 Park Butts Ringway and Proud Cross Ringway also have their fair share of accidents. Take care along Mason Road, especially the junction of Blakebrook and the A442 Worcester Road is also one to watch. Where the Worcester Road meets the A451, The Ringway is particularly tricky. Finally, the A448, Comberton Hill with the junction of Chester Road has a large number of collisions reported there. It seems that is a real black spot where there roads meet.
