Before you can take your practical driving test, you need to pass your theory test. It’s a necessity in order for you to move onto the next part of the process. By learning the vital information covered in the theory test, you will put it into practice in the practical test so that the examiner knows that you can use what you’ve learnt whilst you’re out driving on the road. The car theory test costs £25 and you can find out more about in here https://www.gov.uk/driving-theory-test/overview
It’s vital to prepare for your theory test as there’s a lot to learn about the rules of the road. The better prepared you are, the more likely you are to pass first time, which will save you time and money in the future. The theory test comprises of 2 parts; a multiple choice section and a hazard perception test. The questions in the multiple choice test are taken from three books:
It would help to use all of these when you’re preparing. The multiple choice test covers a variety of topics including alertness, rules of the road, road and traffic signs, hazard awareness and much more. The hazard perception test checks if you can identify and respond to potential hazards that could happen when you’re driving. Obviously, the time spent in lessons with your instructor will help you to do this. In the test you will see film clips taken from a driver’s angle. It’s your job to spot the hazard in each film. You will have to make the correct amendment to avoid the accident which might be lowering your speed or changing direction.
Here at Andy1st we provide guidance and support at every part of the process, from finding you an instructor to help with the tests and beyond. It’s a frightening statistic that the chances of a newly qualified driver having an accident drastically increase. This is why we offer a PassPlus course for those who have recently passed their test. This is a course consisting of 6 extra lessons which cover driving situations that you may not have faced before such as motorway driving or driving in bad weather.
We also provide valuable data which highlights hotspots in your area. This is not meant to encourage you to avoid them but actually familiarise yourself with them and practice them especially if they form part of one of your regular routes. These are areas where a higher number than average accidents occur. We have detailed some of the areas below which will prove useful to both you and your instructor. Take time out to practice these routes and get used to the speed restrictions and lane priorities etc.
At various points along the A10, there are many accidents recorded, particularly at the junction with Whitson Road. Again on Whiston Road where it meets the B108 we have seen a large number of collisions with varying severity. Cambridge Heath Road is another highlighted hotspot where particular attention should be paid where it meets the A1208 and the B127, Bishops Way. Another junction to pay extra care and attention to is the A1208 Hackney Road and Horatio Street.
Please use all of the information we have provided in order to help you stay safe and confident after you’ve passed your test.
