Learning to drive is one of those large milestones in your life. It’s what most 17 year olds look forward to as their birthday approaches. It’s a brilliant skill to have and one that stays with you for a long time. Being able to drive gives you the flexibility and freedom to go places and do things you may not have done if you’d had to rely on a lift or on public transport. It gives you opportunities in life like being able to apply for jobs that require you holding a full licence. You may also venture a bit further afield when looking for University places.
Whatever your reason for learning is, we have some of the best driving instructors in the country waiting to take you on this exciting journey. Our instructors are committed to delivering an excellent standard of tuition and helping keep you safe on the road. We provide learning packages to suit everyone regardless of time and budget constraints. Not only will you receive excellent basic driving tuition, you will also have the benefit of learning observation techniques and hazard perception skills. It’s all very well performing an amazing emergency stop but if you haven’t checked around you for dangers or hazards, then it could be at a costly price.
The main cause of accidents on our roads today is down to lack of concentration. This can occur for a variety of reasons and on any type of road. This is why we look at developing your concentration, decision making, hazard perception and confidence building throughout your lessons. We are working hard with the Driving Standards Agency and Government to help reduce the number of accidents involving new drivers too. This is why we offer our Pass Plus course which is designed for those who have just passed their test. It covers things that are not included in your regular lessons providing guidance on driving in different weather conditions, on different types of roads and in the dark.
We also look at local authority data and try and highlight certain areas that cause some drivers issues. These areas have come to our attention because they have a high number of collisions. We don’t want this to alarm you, far from it, we want this to help you both in your lessons and when you’re out there driving on your own. By highlighting these areas we are giving you the opportunity to practice them and make yourself aware of them. That way you can familiarise yourself and apply more due care and attention to them. If they are on a route you plan to take, ask your instructor to take you there so that you can build up confidence.
In and around Warwick, the main areas of concern are the A46, Warwick By-Pass, Coten End and the A429 Coventry Road. Obviously, this isn’t where all of the collisions have taken place; it is simply where there are a larger number in a small area. Warwick is very popular with site seers and tourists and so many of the collisions could well be caused by people who are unfamiliar with the local surroundings. The Warwick By-Pass is littered with accidents, some slight, some serious and some fatal. As we’ve said, we don’t want to scare you with this information, we simply want to draw your attention to these statistics and ask your instructor if they would mind taking you on these routes so that you can practice and apply the required amount of care and attention.
Another part of the town where collision numbers are high is on the A445, Coten End. Particularly close to Weston Close, St. Nicholas Church Street and St. Johns. That area is a serious hotspot where accidents are concerned.
The Coventry Road (A429) close to The Saxon Mill and Warwick International School of Riding also has its fair share of accidents. If any of these areas or roads are on a regular route for you, we would strongly advise you to practice on these roads and build up your knowledge of how they work and the potential danger when using them. We hope this will help you gain confidence whilst driving around your local area.
