We are here to help everyone who wants or needs to learn to drive achieve their dream. We know and understand that for some learning to drive is very important as a job they’ve applied for requires it. For others, they learn to drive because they are going off to college or university and being able to drive allows you get around your new city or town and helps you get back home again! Other people are fed up with waiting around for unreliable public transport or having to rely on others for lifts. Being able to drive gives you independence and freedom.
Some of our pupils have learnt to drive before but for a plethora of reasons they have given up and not made it to the test. Others are embarking on the quest for the first time. Whatever your experience level we have learning packages to suit you. Our instructors firmly believe that adopting a “one size fits all” style of tuition isn’t particularly beneficial. If we taught all of our pupils in the same way, we wouldn’t have the successful pass rate we have now. We treat all of our pupils as individuals and devise a learning plan to suit your individual needs.
Staying safe on our roads today is one of the most important things we need to lean about when taking lessons. We can spend lots of time working on manoeuvres and negotiating traffic lights and islands etc. But, nothing quite prepares you for life out on the road after you’ve passed your test! Ask any of your family and friends who have learned to drive and they will tell you the same thing. When learning, you always have your instructor with you. They are helping you steer, they have dual controls to help you if you don’t stop effectively and tell you which lane to be in. These are all valuable and necessary things to do when learning. However, on the day you pass your test and those L plates come off, you’re on your own!
During the time spent learning your instructor will teach you valuable observation techniques and hazard perception skills. This will help you and prepare you for life out on the road alone. Being able to determine possible hazards and dangers on the road will help keep you safe out there. It will not only keep you safe but will keep your insurance premiums at a minimum too. You could also consider the Pass Plus course which is designed for new drivers and provides extra lessons covering situations you may not have encountered in your lessons. Insurance companies tend to like these too and some even reduce your premiums as you are deemed to be a safer driver.
We have analysed some collision data too which we hope will help you. This may sound strange us providing hotspots for accidents but we believe that highlighting these areas will give you the opportunity to practice these tricky spots with your instructor and be able to tackle them with the knowledge you need and the confidence you’ll have found. It’s our way of doing as much as we can to help you stay alert, focussed and safe.
Road collisions involving cars and of all types; slight, serious and fatal rose in in Walsall in 2013. This is why you should approach some of the busiest and trickiest junctions with great care. It goes without saying that care and attention should be applied in every aspect of driving and on every road but when you’ve just passed your test and you’re used to having someone in the car with you, it helps to apply extra caution.
In Walsall, a lot of accidents were recorded on Ablewell Street at the junction of Bridge Street. In addition, Pleck Road where it meets Moat Road and Bridgeman Street also has its fair share of collisions.
Littleton Street both East and West sides had a large number of accidents reported and particular attention should be paid to the junctions of Stafford Street and the island where Lichfield Street, Broadway North and Lower Rushall Street all meet.
We hope you enjoy your learning journey and we look forward to hearing of your successes really soon.
