Andy1st driving school puts safety at the heart of everything it does. We instil confidence in all of our pupils in order for them to get out onto the road and drive with certainty, conviction and care. Our instructors are trained to a very high standard and pay particular attention to observational techniques and hazard perception. Learning to drive is not just about getting the car to move! It’s about driving carefully and safely too.
Passing your test is one of the best feelings in the world. The freedom and flexibility driving gives you are incredible and it is something you do on your own without any help from family and friends. You take the lessons and you take the test, it’s a thrilling personal achievement. When you’ve passed, you’ll be able to pay back all those people who have given you lifts over the years! However, what you must consider is that once you’ve passed, you are on your own. This is why learning about safety and looking out for possible dangers is imperative.
Driving in areas and on roads you are unfamiliar with can be unnerving and so we’d like to help you as much as possibly can. Firstly, all of our instructors are accustomed to the area they cover and therefore know where all the tricky junctions are. Whilst taking you through your learning journey your instructor will work hard to build up your local knowledge and confidence. You will quickly become adept at working out difficult situations and improving your perception skills.
As we are committed to instilling the importance of safety into our lessons we have sourced and analysed data from the local authority. This information identifies accident hotspots. We feel that as a learner and a new driver you will find this information invaluable. We are not suggesting you completely avoid these areas, nor do we want to worry you, we simply want to draw your attention to them so that you can apply extra caution. Whether the accident was a slight bump or a serious collision, the accident has been recorded and this data shows us where the most accidents occur.
Busy junctions to look out for
After looking at the data for Nottingham and at the time of going to press, Nottingham is suffering from a huge amount of traffic disruption due to the changes being made in the City Centre. There are many lane changes, priority changes and these are set to continue for a while yet.
Particular areas to look out for due to higher than average accidents occurring are as follows:-
Alfreton Road at the junction of Radford Road causes a few problems and has a high percentage of accidents albeit predominantly slight.
Another junction to look out for is where Gregory Boulevard meets the Mansfield Road. This area which is close in proximity to Forest Road and the Church Cemetery is another known accident hotspot.
Where the Mansfield Road then continues into the Huntingdon Road, particularly close to the Capital FM Arena is again, detailing a large number of accidents as does the A6008 Canal Street at the junction of Carrington Street.
Again, please don’t think we’re trying to worry you in any way; we are simply heightening the profile of these roads so that you can proceed with caution.
