Andy1st driving school provides help and guidance to those embarking on the exciting experience of learning to drive. No more waiting around for unreliable public transport, learning to drive and having the power to go where you want to when you want to is something to really look forward to. Our roads are becoming increasingly busy and dangerous and so we are committed to teaching you everything you need to know about driving but with a few extras thrown in!
We want all of our pupils to learn new skills and to be able to manoeuvre a car effectively. Overall though we want everyone to remain safe on the roads and that is why we provide expert hazard perception training and we work on how to improve your observational skills too. Avoiding scrapes and bumps is about judging the possible hazards around you. It also shows you how important it is to keep your distance and watch your speed.
Interestingly, in line with Government statistics, motorways only account for around 3% of fatalities and injuries. Urban roads are the most common place to have an accident. It makes a lot of sense as on the motorways everyone is, admittedly, going at a faster speed but they are all ultimately travelling in the same direction. On our general roads we have to negotiate traffic signals, roundabouts, zebra crossings, turnings, cyclists and pedestrians. There is an awful lot more to think about.
This is why we have searched through some valuable local authority data in order to identify hotspots. This is in no way designed to scare or worry you – quite the opposite in fact. By identifying these areas we hope it will allow you to practice more around these troublesome spots and build your confidence whilst driving on them. We also hope it will alert you to potential hazards and be able to apply more caution when approaching.
All of our instructors are trained and have been graded as either a 5 or a 6. These are the two highest grades an instructor can achieve. When they are graded it is when they have been out on the road as an instructor for a good period of time. They are graded to ensure the standard of tuition remains at a very high level. All of instructors also have excellent local knowledge and this allows them to help you around these tricky areas and provide extra tuition where required.
So, after reviewing the data, we found that the majority of accidents in and around Loughborough were actually in the main heart of the town centre. The main roads leading to the centre are awash with bangs and scrapes, some of them serious.
The Derby Road (A6) where it meets Swan Street and then High Street has a very large number of accidents. The junction of High Street and Barrow Street is of particular concern.
The junction where the Nottingham Road meets Belton Road has also had its fair share of bumps over the 7 years this data has been collected.
Take care on Ling Road / Epinal Way (A6004) as there are many accidents on that stretch particularly in the area of the hospital and the college. The junction where the Forest Road (B5350) meets Epinal Way is a massive hotspot.
Please take care every time you drive wherever you are but if you are driving in these areas, it is wise to apply extra caution.
