Passed today with 4 minors! Would honestly recommend Tony to anyone. He has a calm approach, whilst making sure he doesn't miss a detail. He wont rush you in any way, and he explains things in the
simplest way possible! Had a great time learning to drive with him, such a great guy who knows what examiners are looking for. He answers any questions you have and however many times you do
something wrong, he never gets angry or starts rushing, he'll start it again, explaining what has to be done! Thanks a lot Tony, couldn't of asked for a better instructor!

    highly recommend

Andy is a patient and empathetic instructor with many years experience. He breaks through any preconceptions you may have and I can't recommend him enough. There are many options for assessors and
advisors but he really is someone you can rely on!

A huge thank you to Tony for being an excellent instructor. I always looked forward to every lesson with him to learn and practice behind the wheel. Every session he ensured not only safety but for
me to experience the enjoyment of driving- and I have to say, after my first lesson, I was enthused so much, I became more determined to pass my test- we set a target together and worked towards this
throughout and ultimately achieved my goal. He was always flexible fitting me into his diary and has a tremendous amount of patience. With his nurturing approach and easy techniques for manoeuvres, I
learnt to deliver these to perfection and felt 100% ready for my test.
He couldn't have made me feel more confident in my own capabilities, resulting in a first time pass with just 2 minors within 9 weeks. I would highly recommend Tony as an instructor to ensure
success- go ahead and book now!

  • Damon Allan (Sunday, November 23 14 11:01 pm GMT)

Tony is an absolutely fantastic instructor, explaining every manoeuvre with detail and letting you know everything the examiners look out for. I highly recommend Tony as an instructor for anyone
    wanting to pass their test.

Road safety and keeping our pupils safe is a top priority for us here at Andy1st driving school. We take valuable time out of our lessons to make sure all our pupils learn the imperative skills to keep them safe on the roads. After you’ve passed that all important test, you are on your own and that’s quite a scary prospect! We want you to have the necessary skills and resources to not only stay safe on the roads but to have the confidence to tackle tricky junctions and situations. Being nervous and indecisive could have a detrimental effect on you and other road users.

In Enfield the Enfield Road Safety Partnership was started in 2004. This pro-active committee was acting on statistics provided by the Council and began working on how they could reduce the numbers of deaths and injuries on the roads today. The Partnership has representatives from all the Emergency Services plus other Road Safety Teams. Their main aims are to:

  • Reduce speed on roads in Enfield
  • Target those young people who are becoming eligible to drive
  • To protect vulnerable road users – children, pedestrians, cyclists

This amazing work is to be commended and here at Andy1st we completely support any strategies and attempts at making the roads safer for our pupils and other road users. We don’t just teach our pupils how to get a car moving or negotiate a tricky junction; we equip them with valuable safety knowledge such as observational techniques and hazard perception skills. After all, no-one will be sitting next to you guiding you after you’ve passed your test!

We also highlight local hotspots to watch out for. This may sound like a crazy thing for a driving school to do but we don’t see it that way. We see this as a very important tool for you and your instructor to use when learning to drive. This valuable information can help you practice difficult areas which you may encounter in your daily life. It will alert you to areas where there have been a higher than average number of accidents. This will allow to you to apply extra care and attention when driving on those routes.

So the main areas to look out for whilst driving in the Enfield area are:

  • The A110, Church Street. Now this stretch of road is littered with collisions but please pay particular attention at the junctions of Chase Side and Old Park Avenue and where it meets Genotin Road and St. Andrew’s Road.
  • Chase Side with the junctions of Holtwhites Hill and Parsonage Lane has also had its fair share of accidents reported there.
  • A10, Great Cambridge Road where it goes over Southbury Road has a large number of accidents reported on it. This could be to do with volumes of traffic in that particular area.

Obviously, efforts are being made by councils and driving schools like us to do whatever we can to reduce road traffic accidents. Detailing these areas is not meant to scare you nor is it for you to avoid them. Quite the opposite in fact! We want you to tackle them with caution and to practice them and gain as much experience and knowledge about them as possible. That way you will build up the necessary skills and confidence to drive on them safely.
