Hello and welcome to Andy1st in Dunstable – one of the fastest-growing driving schools in the country. We offer very accommodating and professional tuition that will meet all your driving needs. We have discounted packages available as well as offering Pass Plus courses, intensive driving courses and automatic driving lessons. We have both male and female driving instructors who are all supportive, patient and fun.
All of our driving instructors are Advanced Driving Instructors and hold the relevant industry led qualifications. Between them, they have years of experience and local knowledge. They have developed the skills for being able to tailor learning packages to many different people. They pride themselves on a very high standard of tuition and are observed by the Driving Standards Agency to ensure this standard is maintained. Not only are the standards of our tuition upheld, it is also the same for our cars. We ensure that all our cars are serviced regularly and are clean, comfortable and safe.
Learning to drive is a skill that most young people want to tackle as soon as they reach 17. For others it comes later in life due to time or money constraints. Over the years we have seen people start to learn to drive and then give up for a variety of reasons. Predominantly this is down to time. Trying to fit in driving lessons around everything else in our lives is tricky but we believe that being so flexible with our lesson times helps you fit it in more easily to your daily life. We can provide lessons in the evenings, at weekends and can collect you from a convenient place.
Teaching you how to drive is one thing, giving you the correct tools to then go out and drive on your own is a completely different situation. Of course, getting the car to move, parking it, negotiating traffic signals and the like are imperative, however, having the observational skills, hazard awareness knowledge and concentration are equally, if not more important. This is why we spend time working on your confidence and honing the areas of driving you have become accomplished at. If you find a particular area of driving tricky, then more time and support will be given to ensure you have grasped it.
Some people choose to take their lessons in the conventional manner and have a lesson a week. You can either “pay as you go” or book a block at a discounted rate. Alternatively, especially if you want or need to learn quickly, you can take an intensive course which crams a lot of driving into a relatively short space of time. This course does not suit everyone and you would benefit from speaking to your instructor to see if it was suitable.
However you choose to learn you can be assured that the tuition you receive from us will be of an excellent standard. We treat all of our pupils as individuals and we help and guide you every step of the way. When you embark on your lessons we provide vital information to you and your instructor as to the local roads to “look out for” whilst driving around. This is not so you can avoid them or be nervous of them, quite the opposite in fact. These roads have been identified as being “hotspots” and we want you to build up confidence on them and familiarise yourself with them.
The hotspots we have identified in Dunstable are predominantly on and around the Church Street and Luton Road areas. These roads are littered with a variety of collisions so you need to proceed with caution on these stretches of road. The junctions of Church Street to pay particular attention to are the ones where it meets West Street and High Street. That is a real traffic heavy area and it would be prudent for you and your instructor to practice at that junction to ensure you are aware of lane priorities etc. In addition High Street North with Manchester Place and Queensway is another one to look out for. Again, there are many accidents reported here. Finally, Luton Road is another busy road with its fair share of accidents recorded, pay particular attention at the junctions of Station Road, Boscombe Road and Kingsbury Avenue.
