Hi my name is Frank,

I have been working at  Andy1st for many years now.
I have been an ADI for many years and really enjoy meeting new pupils and supplying them with a life skill that will help them throughout their lives.
I cover Burton Upon Trent, Swadlincote, Newhall, Ashby-del-la-Zouch.
So if you would like to have fun while learning to drive, then please get in touch

Hi my name is Carlen,

I am pleased to have recently joined the happy crew of ADIs at Andy1st.
I have been teaching for about 18 months, and really enjoy the delight and happiness a pupil expresses when they pass their test, and the satisfaction I feel knowing I have passed on my knowledge to enable them to achieve this.
My car is a Ford Fiesta. Which is lovely to learn in, and because he is not too big it makes the parking maneuvers easier.
I have taught pupils from age 17 to 60, and I have been told that I am very patient, which having taught 2 of my own children, then I think they are probably right.
So if you would like to have fun while learning to drive, then please get in touch

Here at Andy1st driving school in Burton-on-Trent we are committed to providing excellent tuition and service to all of our pupils. We can help you whatever your time or budget constraints. We pride ourselves on not only the high standard of tuition we provide but also on the flexibility we offer to our pupils in terms of lesson times and packages. By offering this flexibility we are able to teach everyone who wants or needs to drive, whatever their personal circumstances.

We deliver individually tailored driving courses which take into account the time you have to spare, the way in which you learn and any experience you may have. We all learn differently; we have different learning styles and we learn at different speeds. When you first meet your instructor, they will spend time getting to know you and assessing your skills. This will give them a good insight into how they are going teach you and an idea of many lessons you will need. They will also determine whether or not you would be suitable for one of our intensive driving courses. You can then decide on your preferred lesson plan.

We want you to have fun whilst taking your lessons. It is widely known that we learn much faster if we are enjoying what we’re doing, so we try and make it as enjoyable as possible. We know that some of you will be very nervous; you may not have sat in the driving seat of a car before. You may have had lessons before but for whatever reason, you may have given up. Our instructors will put you at your ease and gently guide you through the whole experience. We may well inject fun into our tuition but we have a serious message to convey as well. We want all of our pupils to learn effectively and soak up all the knowledge and skills their instructor shares with them. We want you to pass with confidence. Confidence will allow you to tackle difficult situations, to make split second decisions and help you drive with passengers in your car.

We teach you imperative safety techniques which stand you in good stead for what’s coming with life on the road alone. You will need to pass a theory test before you take the practical test and so these skills of hazard perception and danger detection will be put to good use. It may sound a little strange but we analyse local authority data to help in our quest for better road safety. We find troublesome hotspots and tricky junctions where there may have been a large number of collisions and we detail them here for you. This is so that you and your instructor can tackle them in your lessons especially if they are part of a regular route you might take.

So, by familiarising yourself with those tricky areas you can work on them, practice around them and be far more confident when approaching them. This is all part of our pro-active assistance to help prevent further accidents on our roads, especially those involving new drivers. Here are some of the spots we’ve highlighted in Burton-on-Trent. This list is by no means exhaustive, there will be other areas where you should apply caution but these are the ones with a very high number of accidents over the last 7 years from the data we hold.

Firstly, pay careful attention on the A5121 Derby Road which runs into Burton. The junction where the Derby Road meets Horninglow Road and Horninglow Street has its fair share of bumps. If you continue and move into Bridge Street (A511) there are a few accidents reported in that area too. Further along the Derby Road and you may encounter issues where it meets with Princess Way and Wetmore Road. Take particular care here.

Wellington Street has its fair share of collisions too. Pay particular attention where it meets Shobnall Road and then continues onto Evershed Way. It’s worth practicing this route if you likely to travel it regularly after you’ve passed your test. Again, involving Evershed Way, due care and attention should be paid to the junction where Evershed Way meets St. Peter’s Bridge and Orchard Street.

Just remember this data isn’t meant to alarm you, it’s simply there so that you can become more confident in these areas and remain safe at all times.
