Staying safe on our roads is becoming more and more difficult mainly due to the increasing number of vehicles on our roads. There are more cars, vans and bikes than ever and cars go a lot faster than they ever used to. Many of our large companies and distributors use the road network too which means motorways and dual carriageways are always full of vehicles.
We are committed to ensuring we provide only the best driving tuition and included in that is expert guidance on how to stay safe on our roads. We will concentrate on delivering excellent hazard perception training and learning new and valuable observational skills. All of our instructors are dedicated to providing outstanding service right from the start of your learning journey. They offer a personal service and like to get to know you first. That way, they can tailor make training package that suits your experience, your personality and the style in which you learn.
Whether you choose to learn the traditional way of taking regular lessons or you decide to take an intensive course you will receive fantastic support and instruction at every step. Overall, we want you to enjoy your lessons and embrace the freedom being able to drive gives you. However, most people who have learned to drive, taken and passed a test will tell you that the real driving starts when you’re out there on your own negotiating traffic signals and making safety decisions on your own. This is why it is so important that you get the right input and guidance when you’re taking your lessons.
A major contributory factor of many accidents is distraction. When drivers are distracted either by pedestrians, passengers, electronic devices or other issues they lose their concentration and their control over their actions. You need to be alert and focussed when driving – that is what will keep you safe on the roads. Our instructors have excellent local knowledge and will guide you around the roads in your area impeccably. There will be times when your nerves will get the better of you and the unfamiliar layout of some roads will send you a bit panicky. Have no fear, our instructors will go over anything you’re not sure of and make a plan to revisit certain junctions or roads to improve your confidence.
To help them in this task we have analysed some collision data to help us identify tricky areas or junctions. We are not trying to scare you in any way; we are simply highlighting things that need extra care and attention. By having this useful information your instructor can carefully and calmly take you round these routes especially if they are likely to be approached in your test. Equally, when you’ve passed your test and you are driving on your own, you can remember to apply extra care and caution.
There are a high number of collisions along the Wigan Road, A676 especially where it turns into Deane Road. This stretch is particularly prone to accidents but where those roads meet Lanchester Drive and Harris Street are listed as having a large number of bumps.
Another area to look out for is in Haulgh on the A666 St. Peter’s Way and A579 Bradford Street. Where the roads cross seems to be a very prominent hot spot for accidents.
There were a notable number of accidents on the B6202 College Way and Derby Street A579. In addition the B6205 where it meets Deansgate is another tricky spot. These roads are fairly close to the centre, the University and the Town Hall. This may suggest that there are a lot of visitors to the area that may not be familiar with the roads and their layouts. That is why we have alerted you to them so that you can apply more care and when you are in those areas.
