Learning to drive for the majority of us is a pleasurable, gratifying experience. We approach a driving school and get introduced to a professional instructor and start our lessons. For some people, the whole driving experience can be quite daunting and worrying. We understand completely and considering the amount of vehicles that are now on our roads, it’s little wonder some of us find this a bit nerve-wracking.
We are here to allay all those fears. Right from the start, our instructors will put you at your ease and gently guide you through the learning process. You will cover all the basics you will need to get the car started and moving but a whole lot more besides. Here at Andy1st we pay particular attention to keeping our pupils safe on the road. We do this in a variety of different ways.
Firstly, obviously you will be learning with an expert! Your driving instructor will be adept at showing you all you need to know. They are professional, kind and patient and will work on building up your confidence and self-esteem. Having courage in your convictions and your decisions is very important out on the roads. Secondly, they will take time to get to know you and find out the way you learn. This makes your lessons more effective as they are tailored specifically to you. Not only will you spend time on the basics, our instructors will teach you vital hazard perception techniques and ways to improve your observation skills. We are committed to keeping our pupils safe which is why our cars are well maintained too.
We will help you with aspects of your theory and practical driving tests so please don’t worry if there are parts you don’t grasp first time. We want you to feel comfortable and confident with all areas of driving before you take your test and get out on the road alone. Many people will tell you that after the test is when the real learning starts! You no longer have your instructor sitting beside you helping you!
So, we offer a Pass Plus course which involves taking 6 different “extra” lessons after you have passed your test. You will experience driving in different situations such as driving on the motorway or driving in towns and cities or in the dark. It gives you more experience and therefore improves your safety. We also provide local collision data. This may sound a bit strange but trust us when we say it proves very useful for both pupils and instructors alike.
The data we analyse has been kept for a number of years and identifies accident hotspots. We advise you of several junctions and / or roads locally where there have been a higher number of accidents recorded. This data is not meant to scare you and we certainly don’t want you to avoid those areas at all. We simply provide this data so that you are aware of those areas and apply the appropriate care and attention. If the highlighted areas form part of a regular route for you, it’s worth practising in that area to build your confidence by becoming familiar with them.
In Banbury, there are a number of accidents along most stretches of Southam Road (A361). Particular areas to look out for are where the road meets an island joining Hennef Way (A422) and also where it joins High Street. The main Hennef Way has quite a few traffic signals and islands along its route and where it crosses the M40 Motorway also has its fair share of collisions.
Take extra care at the Island of The Fairway, Hilton Road and Woodgreen Avenue too as there are a high number of accidents reported there. And finally, the area of Bloxham Road where it meets the Queensway has had a few accidents reported so proceed with caution and familiarise yourself with the road layout.
