Being able to drive is a fantastic life skill as it can give you the freedom and flexibility to go where you want to, when you want to. You don’t have to wait around for public transport or lifts from family or friends and you can car share for work too saving money on your commuting costs. However old you are and however much experience you have, we have a learning package that suits your budget, your learning style and your preferred pace.
So, a quick checklist first! Are you over 17, hold a provisional licence for Great Britain or Northern Ireland and can you read a new-style number plate from 20 metres away (with glasses or contacts if applicable)? Brilliant, we are a few steps closer! You can now start looking around for the right driving school and instructor for you. So, thank you for stopping by and seeing what we can offer.
If you are going to take lessons with a professional driving instructor, they must be an approved driving instructor (ADI) or a trainee instructor. All of our instructors are ADIs and hold the relevant industry led qualifications. They are also regularly monitored to ensure all high standards are adhered to and upheld. When you start to learn to drive, it’s really important to learn how to drive safely right from the start as bad habits are hard to break. Driving instructors undertake rigorous training in order to be able to teach you everything you need to pass your test. Simply knowing how the car moves and how to do a 3 point turn isn’t enough. You need to have the skills to keep you safe on the roads and have the confidence to make snap decisions when driving.
A good instructor will be patient, helpful, reliable and professional and our instructors have all this in abundance. It’s important to build up a rapport with your instructor and be able to trust them. It is widely recognised that we all learn quicker and more effectively if we are having fun doing what we’re doing. To this end, we try and make your learning experience a fun one as well as teaching you the things you will need to know.
Good driving isn’t all about learning the rules of the road. Your skills, observational techniques and hazard awareness are crucial too. You need to be able to keep calm in some situations and make quick decisions. Your attitude as a driver should be one that is considerate to others whether they be drivers, cyclists or pedestrians. Just because you’ve passed your test doesn’t mean the learning stops – far from it! Ask anyone who has learned to drive and they will tell you that after the L plates have come off is when the real learning starts!
You can learn by taking a lesson every week. This will allow you to spread the cost of driving and to learn in a methodical way. Alternatively, and after consultation with your instructor, you could take one of our intensive courses which could see you learn and pass your test in as little as a week. We offer discounts on block bookings of weekly lessons and tailor make a learning plan that is suited entirely to you.
Along with all the advice, guidance and support we provide throughout your learning journey we also provide some valuable local road knowledge. This information gives you details of areas where accidents and collisions are higher than average. This isn’t meant to scare you or keep you away from these roads, quite the opposite in fact. We want you to be confident when riding these routes especially if they form part of your daily commute. Make yourself aware of the dangers, familiarise yourself with the road layout and speed restrictions. Be prepared. We will highlight the hotspots around Buckinghamshire below.
We want you to become a safe and confident driver so please call us if you are interested in discussing any of our packages.
